Welcome and thank you for choosing Sheridan Equine Hospital, P.C. We are located in the heart of
the beautiful Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, and have served as the equine referral hospital for
veterinarians and clients throughout the Rocky Mountain west since 1997. Founded by Dr. Ted Vlahos
D.V.M., M.S., Diplomate American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Sheridan Equine Hospital, P.C. has
grown to earn worldwide recognition as a leader in the development of equine amputation procedures
and prosthetics. With our sister practice, Cody Equine Hospital, P.C., located in Cody, Wyoming, we
provide both hospital and ambulatory services to a large horse population in Wyoming. Horses from
across the United States frequently travel to our Sheridan facility for the most comprehensive critical
care available. In addition to our advanced orthopedic and general surgery, we provide extensive
lameness diagnosis and treatment programs, complete medical and intensive care facilities, and
stallion and broodmare services. Our hospital serves as a training facility for graduate veterinarians
and veterinary students throughout the world. Our mission is to provide uncompromising care for our
patients, with compassion and understanding to meet the needs of the owners who care for them.
Dr. Ted Vlahos
Dr. Vlahos grew up in Columbus, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Master of
Science in Animal Science (Equine Nutrition), and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1988) from the Ohio
State University. Following an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky,
Dr. Vlahos started an equine practice in Southern Pines, N.C. He then built an equine hospital and
a surgery facility in Central Virginia, where he practiced for 9 years. In 1997, he moved to Sheridan,
Wyoming where the present day hospital is located. Dr. Vlahos was certified as an equine specialist by
the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 1997. He has received advanced training in equine
fracture repair and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Vlahos has published numerous articles and has lectured
across the country on equine amputation and prosthetics. He has made numerous appearances on
national television featuring his work. He has performed surgery across the globe, and has earned
respect among his peers as a passionate advocate for advancing treatment options for the most severely
injured equine patients.
Dr. Vlahos is deeply devoted to his wife, Cathy, and their five beautiful children Andrew, Colton, Walker,
Jenna and Lexie. He enjoys trail riding, big game hunting, fly fishing, and as a life-long guitar player,
playing worship music with his church.

Cathy Vlahos
Dr. Ted and Cathy Vlahos
Cathy is the Office Manager of Sheridan Equine Hospital, P.C. Cathy brings extensive labor relations
knowledge to the office following a 12-year management career with the USPS. With a medical
background, she assists with surgery, anesthesia and office procedures.
In addition, Cathy has been a licensed insurance agent since 2005. She owned an insurance agency
in California for 5 years and currently runs her own Wyoming insurance agency, Trusted Partners
Insurance, to assist clients in insuring their horses.
Cathy is also a Christian author and has two children’s books published by Tate Publishing.
Cathy enjoys being the wife of the love of her life and being a mother of five wonderful children. For
fun, Cathy enjoys day rides on her horse with a stop in the meadows for fly fishing. She loves to dance
and write.

Laurie Sparr
Laurie is the manager of our sister practice, Cody Equine Hospital, P.C. Laurie brings us extensive
experience in marketing and public relations following a professional career at Florida medical facilities.
A graduate of the University of South Florida, Laurie spent many years reporting and photographing
numerous advances in human medicine and surgery. Upon relocating to Wyoming her interests led
her back to a childhood love for horses and she is completing studies in equine veterinary technician
certification through the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians (AAEVT). She has
travelled extensively through Great Britain as an owner and trainer of Shire horses, and “took the lines”
as a competitive driver in draft horse shows across the US and Canada. Today, she is most at home in
the clinical activities of Cody Equine Hospital, P.C. assisting Dr. Vlahos in equine treatments and nursing.
Laurie enjoys a routine program of fitness along with golf, hiking and travel.

Dr. Meghan Hayden
Dr. Hayden is from Baton Rouge, LA. She completed her undergraduate and veterinary studies
at Auburn University. Dr. Hayden will complete an 18-month internship with Sheridan Equine
Hospital this year. Her primary duties include anesthesia and critical care monitoring, and
management of hospitalized patients. Dr. Hayden will enter private equine practice upon
completion of her training in Sheridan.

Dr. Alex Parkes BSc (Hons), BVSc
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Alex Parkes who will join us this July. Dr. Parkes is a graduate of
the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh, UK. He completed his undergraduate
studies with honors at the University of Liverpool. Dr. Parkes played college rugby, and enjoys
hiking, golf and music. We are excited to have this outstanding young talent as part of our
team.

Ashley Stimpson
Ashley has been our technician for the past three years. Ashley will be with us until this fall,
where she will complete her pre-veterinary curriculum at the University of Wyoming. She is
from a family ranch in Lodgegrass, Montana. We are very blessed that a young lady of such
character and work ethic is such an integral part of the care that we provide our patients.

Mo Carlin
For the past 10 years, Mo has been an essential part of our clinical staff. Mo is responsible for our purchasing and inventory, and also works as our operating room technician. She maintains quality and sterility of all operating room instrumentation, and is our OR circulator during all major surgeries. Mo's infectious smile is present throughout our hospital from the moment she arrives. Mo enjoys spending time with her husband, Dan, and keeping up with her three beautiful children.

Kristin Magnusson
One of the most important positions in any equine hospital is that of caretaker. Kristin fills that vital daily role superbly as our primary caretaker and barn staff supervisor. Kristin grew up in Goshen, Kentucky, where she worked with her father, Dr. Roger Magnusson, an equine practitioner. Kristin worked at Three Chimney's Farm as the filly barn foreman in their yearling division. Kristin has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration through the Equine Industry Program at the University of Louisville, and a Bachelor's in Multimedia Studies from the University of Colorado, Denver. In her spare time, Kristin enjoys landscape painting, and working as a video producer and website designer.
